Health & Safety
This one-day course will teach you emergency skills including incident management and how to access casualties. You will learn how to react effectively and responsibly in situations where casualties are unconscious, have external bleeding, or need resuscitation. Successful completion of this assessed course will provide you with a HSE certificate, which is valid for 3 years.
Duration: 1 day
This three-day intensive course provides the delegates with a thorough practical and theoretical knowledge of First Aid practice. On successful completion delegates receive a HSE approved certificate, which is valid for three years.
Duration: 3 days
This one-day accredited course will enable successful candidates to gain a food and hygiene certificate which is valid for three years and serves as a useful tool/qualification for working in the food industry.

This one-day course covers safety legislation, accident prevention, company safety policy, accident investigation, fire precautions, evacuation procedures, safety inspections and hazard spotting, and action planning.

This course provides learners with the knowledge they need in order to reduce the chance of incurring an injury whilst manually handling loads in their work environment.
This course teaches you all you need to know about safe manual handling. Being competent in safe carrying and lifting techniques for the workplace is a legal requirement. The course covers the main hazards, applicable legislation, risk assessment, risk reduction measures and key responsibilities of the individual. It includes lifting techniques, ‘LITE’ and ‘TILE’ and explains the importance of safe manual handling. Correct Manual Handling is so important to your everyday health, especially if you’re regularly lifting.

This course provides delegates with knowledge and experience of how to successfully carry out infant and baby resuscitation, the appropriate action to take if a baby or child is choking and management of the unconscious child and/or baby. On successful completion delegates receive a HSE approved certificate, which is valid for three years.

This course will equip you with an understanding of mental health issues, the principles of mental health and changes and support in relation to mental health. This training will cover the skills and knowledge needed to understand approaches to care and management of mental health.

This course gives HR managers, team leaders and managers the ability to support employees’ mental health and wellbeing as they return to the workplace.
The course gives delegates the confidence to have conversations about mental health through understanding:
- The impact of Covid-19 on employee mental health, wellbeing and the psychological impact of returning to work
- The role of HR and people managers to supporting employee wellbeing

The intention of this online intensive Level 1 course is to help children by minimising the chance of child abuse and neglect. The module has five aims; enjoy and achieve, stay safe, make a positive contribution, achieve economic well-being.

This intensive training is for anyone who encounters adults at risk of abuse in the community, in a person’s own home, in a hospital, in a day care or residential setting. This includes formal and informal careers, volunteers, health and social care professionals.

It is a statutory requirement for anyone who works with children to update their knowledge of legislation and guidance and maintain the ability to act on concerns about the safety and welfare of children and young people.

This is a tester course designed for those who are considering working with children and/or young people. It is also suitable as a refresher course. It explains the roles and responsibilities of childcare professionals and covers areas such as keeping accurate accident and incident records, how to fill in relevant reports and safeguarding policies and procedures.
Duration: 5 half days
The objectives of this course include: identifying the physical care needs of children aged 0 to 4 years old, understanding how meeting these needs can support a child’s growth and development, and identifying which measures would need to be in place to ensure the child’s safety in a childcare setting.
This training can either be used as a taster or as a refresher.

The focus of this one day training is advertising. Delegates will learn about communicating messages using a variety of styles and mediums to enable organisations to reach as wide an audience as possible. Delegates will also take part in delivering and evaluating presentations on marketing.

Participants will learn how to raise an organisation’s profile by using a variety of techniques and tools, such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn. This course can either be used as progression from the Marketing & Communication course, or separately as a standalone training day.

The course will provide practical bid writing techniques enabling participants to produce focused proposals and increase their success rates in funding applications.
There will be hints and tips on what differentiates a good funding application from a poor one. There will be a variety of practical tips and examples of how to approach the task. Participants will work together on set tasks to help them better understand the procedures involved. There will be opportunities to ask questions specific to their funding needs. Participants will also be directed to relevant local and national funding opportunities.
Action for Community Development has a wealth of experience of working with funders and we will share what funders tell us that they are looking for in successful applications. The course is ideal for anyone who has little or no experience preparing a funding application.

This is a practical course aimed at those who are looking to start a new business venture or those who would simply like to know what is involved in starting a new business venture. The course highlights the key issues to consider when starting a new business, from marketing and sales to finance and legal requirements. Topics will also include the motivation behind starting up your own business, processes involved, types of businesses, market research and the importance of business plan and cash flow.
